Bears 'Not Making A Big Deal' About Playing Spoiler vs. TCU

With TCU seeking a College Football Playoff berth, Connor Galvin and the Bears aren't focused on playing spoiler.

The hope of a Big 12 team making the College Football Playoffs rests on the shoulders of one team - the TCU Horned Frogs. If the Baylor Bears have anything to say about it, then those hopes will come crashing down after Saturday.

It would not be the first time this rivalry game dashed the playoff hopes of one of its members. In fact, if you go back to just last season you can see the Horned Frogs effectively squash any hope that the Bears had of making the playoffs.

The Bears entered that game with a 7-1 record and with slim hope, but hope nonetheless, of sneaking into the College Football Playoff. Instead, they were handed 30-28 loss which dropped them to 7-2 and out of the playoff race.

Now, one year later, and the Bears can return the favor to an undefeated TCU. However, offensive lineman Connor Galvin emphasized that the Bears aren't focused on playing spoiler this weekend.

"We've addressed what's at stake for both teams," Galvin said. "We've addressed the situation and the opportunity we have ahead of us. We know what's at stake, it was addressed on Monday, but we're not making a big deal about it, just the next opponent up."

While the Bears may not be focusing on spoiling TCU's season, a win this weekend would likely feel especially sweet. After all, what's better than not only beating a hated rival but ruining their postseason dreams as well?
