Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed and was taken off the field in an ambulance in the first quarter of a game in Cincinnati following a hit on Bengals receiver Tee Higgins.

Hamlin initially jumped up from the hit but fell to the ground just a second later. He would be rushed to the hospital and the game between the two AFC heavyweights was subsequently postponed.

While Hamlin's condition has not been detailed as anything more specific than critical, the sports world has rallied around this moment in support of the 24-year-old star and his family.

Of course, an event with such impact is not without controversy, and sports personalities, fans and celebrities alike have all taken to social media with assorted messages. Of all sentiments, though, one from former Baylor Heisman-winning quarterback and current ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III shone the brightest.

Griffin III himself spent eight years in the NFL, even winning offensive rookie of the year in 2012. His career was even cut short by injury, though paling in comparison to Hamlin's current battle.

If anyone has a perspective on the risks of playing in the NFL, though, it's Griffin III. And he used his experience and platform for good.

Griffin III has been in the spotlight numerous times lately. From learning his wife was in labor while live on the air to announce the Cotton Bowl between USC and Tulane just 48 hours later, he's brought immense positive publicity to himself and his budding career at ESPN.

Griffin III is someone all Baylor fans can be proud of.
