Baylor Walk-On Earns Scholarship

The journey to a scholarship is over for this Baylor Bears Football player.

There’s an 85-man scholarship limit at the FBS level of college football. That does not mean that every player on a roster is receiving full room and board; some players walk onto a program. That's the beginning, at least.

That’s the case with wide receiver Josh Cameron, one of the players that toiled primarily as a practice player for Baylor this past season. Cameron made the most of his time during practice, and he even hit the field during the final three games – Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss – of the Bears’ 2021 season.

Combining his time on the field during the final three games of 2021 with his hard work and sacrifice during the long hours in the weight room and via off-season conditioning, he’s being noticed.

Noticed indeed, as his time and effort is being rewarded by Head Football Coach Dave Aranda and the Baylor staff. Cameron is now a full scholarship player:

Before heading to Waco, Cameron helped lead Cedar Park High School to a 14-1 record and a trip to the Texas state championship game in 2020. That season, he totaled 90 receptions for 1,226 yards and 14 touchdowns he was also a team captain and named first-team all-district.

Congratulations to Cameron for all of his hard work. He’s now one of the ‘85’ playing for the Bears. It's a great story and one that should be applauded by college football fans and everyone that appreciates sacrifice and dedication.
