Way-Too-Early Betting Odds for Baylor vs. BYU

Can Baylor pull out the road win over BYU despite being early underdogs?

The Baylor Bears will hit the road for the first time when they travel to Provo, Utah to take on the BYU Cougars in week two. Baylor hopes to be coming off a convincing week one win over the Albany Great Danes, as it aims to start the season strong on the path to claiming a second straight Big 12 championship.

Baylor and BYU met in 2021 in Waco in a game that the Bears won handily 38-24, totaling 534 yards of total offense, including 303 yards on the ground. Now the Bears are set to make their trip to Provo and emulate last year's performance.

However, the early opening lines from FanDuel do not currently favor the Bears, as they give the Cougars a slight edge at home. Per the FanDuel sportsbook, which only has a spread available to bet so far, the Cougars open as the early favorites.

Spread: Baylor +1.5

Usually, the home team is given a spread of -3, as the books account for home-field advantage, so the Cougars only being -1.5 favorites over the Bears shows that sportsbooks don't truly have a feel for this game yet.

That being said, if this line does hold into September when the Bears hit the road, it might be one of the more interesting bets one can place on Baylor in 2022. Despite Baylor winning comfortably in 2021, that does not automatically transfer into this season and as a result, this line is one to keep an eye on as the offseason progresses and the season starts in September.
