Austin Novosad is staying put, choosing the Baylor Bears over Ohio State, Texas A&M and Notre Dame.

The Dripping Springs product was the first major commit to Dave Aranda from the class of 2023, and he’s not leaving.

In his first interview after solidifying his commitment, Novosad joined Locked On Baylor to rave over the coaching staff, family atmosphere and recent success that are bringing him to Waco.

A 4-star product, Novosad began to attract major schools after a breakout junior season put him on the radar. His success at the Elite 11 Finals didn’t hurt either, landing him a spot in Sports Illustrated’s top-10.

Though offers from schools like Stanford and the aforementioned Ohio State rolled in earlier this year, Novosad was sold on Baylor quarterback coach Shawn Bell from the jump.

A pivotal recruiter in this process, a hole of golf and a game of corn hole at a barbecue this weekend between Bell and Novosad may have sealed the deal.

The relationship between the two is furthered by similarities. Bell was a hot commodity as a quarterback coming out of the small town of China Spring, and Novosad's Dripping Springs team has only recently been put on the map.

Bell chose to stay local and became one of the more notable Baylor quarterbacks of the post-Grant Teaff era, and Novosad elected to go the same route by sticking with Baylor.

It was that relationship, that level of intentionality and family that helped bring a gamechanger like Novosad home to Baylor.
