Three Mountain West teams crack KenPom top 50

The Boise State men’s basketball team is riding high after picking up a 68-67 victory on Sunday over Saint Mary’s to wrap up its non-conference slate.
It was an important win for the Broncos (8-3), who are up to No. 45 in the latest KenPom rankings. Boise State is one of three Mountain West teams inside the top 50 of KenPom, joining No. 40 Utah State (9-1) and No. 46 San Diego State (5-3).
The Broncos, who have won four in a row after dropping back-to-back games to USC and N.C. State, open MWC play on Saturday at Nevada. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Mountain time at Lawlor Events Center.
Boise State holds a KenPom defensive rating of 97.2, ranking No. 20 nationally and first in the MWC. The Broncos rank No. 85 nationally in offense with a rating of 113.6.
Five other MWC teams are inside the KenPom top 100: No. 62 Colorado State (9-2), No. 77 New Mexico (9-2), No. 89 Nevada (8-3), No. 92 Grand Canyon (6-4) and No. 93 Wyoming (8-2).
