How former Boise State stars performed in Week 2 of 2026 NFL preseason

Ashton Jeanty and the Las Vegas Raiders received a positive update on Monday following a scary situation at practice.

During Sunday’s practice, the former Boise State star went for a diving catch and landed awkwardly on his right leg. He was helped off the field by trainers as Raiders players took a knee and prayed, ESPN’s Ryan McFadden reported.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday that Jeanty suffered a sprained ankle that is not expected to be a long-term injury. His timetable for a return is unknown, Schefter said.

Jeanty is set up to have a breakout sophomore season under first-year Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak, who served as the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive coordinator during their run to last year’s Super Bowl title.

Jeanty starred at Boise State from 2022-24, running for 4,769 yards and 56 total touchdowns on 750 carries. The dynamic running back tallied 2,601 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior and finished second in the 2024 Heisman Trophy voting.

The Raiders selected Jeanty with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He set a franchise rookie record last season with 1,321 yards from scrimmage and 10 total touchdowns.

Jeanty did not play in the Raiders’ 22-20 preseason victory over the Houston Texans last Thursday.
