The winner of Saturday’s Mountain West showdown between Boise State (6-3, 4-1) and San Diego State (7-2, 4-1) will be in control of its own destiny to host the MWC championship game and secure a spot in the LA Bowl. 

Both teams need a lot of help to jump into the College Football Playoff picture. 

Boise State made the inaugural 12-team playoff last season after capturing a second straight MWC title.
