Colorado's J’Vonne Hadley enters transfer portal

Buffs guard becomes the second player to exit following NCAA Tournament appearance

J'Vonne Hadley's days in Boulder will soon be behind him. Colorado's fifth-year senior will be entering the portal, according to On3's Joe Tipton.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound guard spent two years with Tad Boyle at CU after earning NJCAA Division I First Team All-America honors at Indian Hills CC (Iowa). Hadley averaged 11.6 points and six rebounds and was in double-figures in 23-of-36 contests for the Buffs last season. However, his best contribution was on the other end of the floor as a top defender.

While Hadley's exit isn’t surprising news, it leaves Colorado another player down going into the offseason. Eddie Lampkin, Jr. announced he would be hitting the portal on Wednesday as well. Cody Williams' NBA future plans are unresolved at this point. Tristian da Silva will be headed into the pro pool, with KJ Simpson left as the odd man out. Unfortunately, the lack of NIL might've pushed him toward heading to a bigger program.

Boyle will be in rebuild mode with four of his top contributors out. He'll likely build up Assane Diop and Bangot Dak as options at the five spot with Lampkin gone. We'll see how Colorado uses the portal to get better in 2024-25. They'll also have four-star prospect Andrew Crawford as part of this year's recruiting class.
