Everything Washington State Coach Jake Dickert said about Deion Sanders and Colorado

Washington State looking to snap a six game losing streak

Jake Dickert has been through a lot this season. From a 4-0 start, with some experts wondering aloud if this team had College Football Playoff aspirations.

Fast forward to now and this team likely won’t even make a bowl, regardless of what happens this evening.

For as disappointing it’s been for Colorado fans, it’s been worse for Wazzu faithful. They lost their season. They lost their conference. And, if things go the Buffs way, they’ll lose tonight as well.

What’s it going to take for one of these teams to snap their losing streak?

Dickert: “I see two teams with a bunch of want in them. When I watch their tape and watch our tape, I see a bunch of kids that are competing. I think they are extremely talented at the skill positions. Sanders at quarterback is a lot like Cam [Ward] a creator. a strong arm player. He’s elusive in the pocket and can do a bunch of different things with the ball in his hands. I think he’s an elite level talent.”

On Colorado’s defense?

Dickert: “Defensively, when you watch CU, you’re going to see a team that dictates defense. They’re going to attack you in all different phases.”

On what he has seen from the Buffs?

“I think you see a team that’s playing extremely hard. It’s a credit to Coach Sanders and what he’s building there and what they’re fighting for as well. Every challenge in this league is real. It’s going to be two hungry, hungry teams in the Palouse. We’re trying to send our seniors off the right way.”

On similarities between these two teams.

“There’s obviously a lot of mirroring between these two teams with not having the type of success you really wanted throughout the Pac-12 season after a good start. I always think the make of a team is how hard they’re playing when you watch them do the little things…They’re playing with tons of effort.”
