Deion Sanders ranks his children for Father's Day

The latest Prime Power Rankings have been released

One of the true joys in covering Coach Prime the last few years has been the opportunity to learn more about his family.

Deion's five children include Deion Jr., aka Bucky, and Deiondra with his first wife Carolyn Chambers.

Pilar Sanders, his second wife, gave birth to Shilo, Shedeur, and Shelomi. All three of them are currently with their dad at CU. As with any blended family, there has certainly been some drama over the years, but Prime’s relationship with his children is now stronger than ever.

We also need to show some love to the vivacious and amazingly talented, and all around queen, Tracey Edmonds. If you are a member of the Sanders family, competition is in your blood.

As patriarch, Sanders has taken on all challenges with a voracity very few people can replicate. Despite being in physical pain, Coach displays an unwavering spirit and constantly maintains an aura of positivity.

So, what’s up with the Kids Rankings?

Well, the origin of the kid poll is a bit fuzzy. He made references to his number one son and daughter on Deion’s Family Playbook, his reality show with longtime love, Tracey, that debuted in 2014. 

However, Coach has also made numerous references to Top 2 or Top 3 at different times, over the years on social media. For purposes of this article, we will focus on three “official” rankings released over the last 12 months.

First there was Father’s Day in 2022.

Deiondra Sanders

Deiondra has been the most consistent offspring over the last 12 months. While she maintains residency in Georgia, this is most certainly not a case of SEC bias. She impresses everyone she encounters. The ultimate businesswoman with a heart of gold.

After a couple of second place finishes, she left no doubt on who’s the top dawg in 2023. Deiondra came for the throne and did not miss.

In sticking with the college football playoff theme, Bucky’s last 12 months were very much reminiscent of his alma mater’s arch rival, the TCU Horned Frogs.

Bucky is an ambitious, hardworking, and successful entrepreneur. He launched his Well Off brand while attending SMU back in 2015.

Because of his name, Deion Jr. has faced more pressure to succeed than any of his siblings. And he has consistently exceeded expectations.

And while he took some L’s, he still manages to walk around like he’s undefeated. But like TCU, just getting to the championship game isn’t always enough. And on this Father’s Day, it felt a lot like 65-7.

After a precipitous first to worst drop in December, Shelomi has managed to bounce back and at least make it on to the medal stand.

Some would argue that the daughter Deion affectionately refers to as Bossy, is low-key number one. From this perspective it appears, of all his kids, Deion pushes Shelomi the hardest.

Shelomi is already a hero to so many!. Her videos inspire kids of all ages to tackle adversity and overcome it. Regardless of ranking, she’ll always be the boss!

Nobody embodies the late 80s to mid 90s, Neon Deion, It must be the money, persona more than Shilo Sanders. He has it all. He oozes creativity and combines a million dollar smile with NFL level talent. He’s prime time both day and night. Deion knows Shilo will find success in whatever path he chooses but, as a father, he is trying his best to keep him humble along the way.

Shilo doesn’t need validation. He may never rise to the top of the Coach’s poll. But as he states in the video, there needs to be a public poll too.

While Shedeur may have more Instagram followers, Shilo’s enigmatic personality can light up any room. And like UCF, he doesn’t need a number one ranking to hang a championship banner.

Finally, it’s on to Shedeur, a leader of men since the time he was a boy. And now, the man who has a chance to become a king.

Shedeur has all the physical and mental gifts to achieve greatness. But nothing along the way has been given, everything has been earned.

It’s going to take a Herculean effort for him to reach the top spot in the family poll. But if anyone is up to the task, it’s Shedeur. He was raised by greatness and has grown to embrace a legendary mindset. For Shedeur, the sky’s the limit.

The fact that we can even debate the merits of five superstar kids is a testament to wonderful parenting by Deion Sanders. He may be a father of five but he’s a father figure to millions!
