When you come from a family of superstar athletes, a type 1 diabetes diagnosis could be viewed as a setback. But, this most certainly is not the case for Deion’s youngest child.

Shelomi Sanders is a college sophomore and a member of the Colorado Buffaloes basketball team. In January, she transferred from Jackson State University to be with her father in Boulder, CO.

Shelomi’s disease was never truly a secret but, in recent months, she has attempted to inspire others by revealing more via social media.

First, there was this video on TikTok and Instagram.

Shelomi said at the time, “[Diabetes] takes a toll mentally……you get no days off with this stuff.”

Earlier this year, Shelomi was interviewed by Tiana Cooks on the Beyond Type 1 YouTube channel.

“It’s hard, because it’s just you dealing with all this, but then you have these outside voices like my parents, my brothers, other family members saying you need to do this or that and it’s like, just chill,” said Shelomi.

“I don’t know if they will ever understand that sometimes we have low days and sometimes we have good days. On the low days, I feel like it’s really hard just to be understood that hey, I need a break! But, again, you can’t take a break with this.”

In a recent video posted by Thee Pregame Show, Shelomi and Deion discuss the time they suspected something was wrong and the hospital visit that confirmed the diagnosis.

Shelomi, aka Bossy, hasn’t let her condition slow her down on the basketball court. In fact, as I’m sure big brother Shilo can attest, she is far and away the best hooper in the family.
