EXCLUSIVE: Big 12's Brett Yormark says Colorado has done an incredible job with Deion Sanders

The commissioner address several topics including expansion

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark held his state of the conference gathering at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Wednesday. Among the topics he discussed was an expansion update and thoughts on the opener between Colorado and TCU.

If you roll back to last year, Yormark opened the forum by telling the world the Big 12 was "Open for business." He followed that up by saying the conference has plans of expansion going into this year and beyond.

“I feel like I’ve been talking about expansion for a year now,” Yormark said. "If they create value and align with our goals and objectives, it's a conversation we'll consider having," He went on to say, “We have a plan for expansion. I’m not going to really address it today.”

The Big 12 loses Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC starting next year. But it's a mystery which two schools will fill the void left by the college football powerhouses. Colorado, Utah, and others have been mentioned in rumors about a possible realignment with the conference. However, there's been no clear indication that any school would jumping ship in the coming weeks.

Yormark also shared his excitement for TCU's opener with Colorado. Sonny Dykes' Horned Frogs boasts the title of last year's national runner-up and faces a new-look Colorado with Deion Sanders making his FBS debut.

"I think they've done an incredible job," Yormark said about Colorado. "If you look at how they're elevating and amplifying their brand and engaging with their fans, they've done a wonderful job. I wish them well."
