Deion Sanders and Colorado have advantages with 2024 Big 12 schedule
The Colorado Buffaloes schedule is looking pretty promising in 2024 and beyond. Obviously, we don’t know the dates but there are a couple of games that Deion Sanders and the Buffs will look to capitalize on next year.
The most obvious advantage for CU will be five conference games at home. While non-conference play is less than ideal with North Dakota State (Aug. 31), at Nebraska (Sept. 7), at Colorado State (Sept. 14), they'll hit the road in Big 12 play to face Arizona, UFC, Kansas, and Texas Tech.
One of the bigger games of the season will be against Kansas State. The Wildcats are off to a great start at 6-2 and face a pivotal matchup on FOX Big Noon Saturday with Texas this week. They look to be one of the toughest competitors for the Buffs at Folsom Field.
As Colorado heads to the Big 12, the competition will be fierce. Teams will be circling Colorado on their schedule with the stardom of Sanders continuing throughout the conference, it’s only natural. Colorado will have a target sitting on their back and they know it. A few other opponents that the Buffs will have to be on the lookout for are Cincinnati, Baylor, and UCF.
While the Bearcats and Bears have a tendency to rattle off good years, the Knights have the recruiting base of central Florida and aren't a stranger to the spotlight, having garnered attention for their historical feats in the past. It will likely be the Buffs toughest road matchup in Orlando just outside of Disney World.
Cincinnati and Baylor boast powerful offenses that can cause quite a few problems for a defense that has struggled for most of the season. The Bears of Waco have a strong power-run offense, while the Bearcats follow a more "pass happy" style of offense. This can be a real test for the Buffs, but nothing like how the Pac-12 has been traditionally built up with some of the nation's best QBs.
As they look to show how much they’ve grown next year, Sanders and the Buffs will shift into the better recruiting ground of Texas and Florida. It also happens to be two home states for Coach Prime.
Colorado will have to deal with shuffling some pieces, especially losses to the NFL. Even with this possible change it doesn’t mean facing the team will be a walk in the park. Not only will this season have a sense of fresh air, but it will also have some new faces to go with it. While we never know what the future holds, it is always full of surprises and the 2024 season will be no different in Boulder.
