Utah's Kyle Whittingham backs Deion Sanders' off-season moves

The Utes coach recognizes the progress for Coach Prime

Kyle Whittingham doesn't care about the outside noise when it comes to criticism of Deion Sanders.

The Pac-12's longest-tenured coach says what Colorado has done over the last seven months has been nothing short of miraculous.

"It's very interesting what (Sanders) is doing," Whittingham told BuffsBeat. "With the rules structured like they are and the program the state it was in... Why wouldn't you try something like that? It makes sense."

Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff believes realignment coming to an end

Whittingham has guided Utah to back-to-back Pac-12 Championships but faces the pressure with USC still knocking at the door. A renewed rivalry for the Rumble in the Rockies with Colorado trying to improve from a one-win season in 2022. This will be Sanders' first trip to Salt Lake City to face Utah on Nov. 25.

UPDATE: Tracey Edmonds says Deion Sanders out of another "successful" surgery

Whittingham enters his 19th year with Utah and will try to represent the Pac-12 in the College Football Playoff. A bid would be a first for the program after coming over from the Mountain West thirteen years ago.

The biggest question of the Utes going into this season will be the status of Cam Rising. The senior quarterback tore his ACL in the Rose Bowl loss to Penn State and likely won't be ready when Florida comes to Utah on Aug. 31.
