Gators Land SDSU OT Transfer Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
San Diego State offensive tackle Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson announced his commitment to the Florida Gators on Sunday afternoon following his official visit to campus over the weekend.
The former Aztec lineman holds one year of eligibility remaining.
Over three seasons of meaningful playing time at San Diego State, the Inglewood, Calif., native appeared in 38 contests — starting in 20 consecutive games spanning his sophomore and junior years — with time spent at both the right and left tackle positions. In 2021, Crenshaw-Dickson started all 14 games at right tackle, where he proved his worth as a bookend-caliber tackle talent.
His notable power and consistency resulted in his move to left tackle for the 2022 season, appearing and starting in all 13 games while turning in another productive season albeit on the opposite side of the line.
In his final year at SDSU, Crenshaw-Dickson flipped between both sides of the line of scrimmage in the 10 games he played.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder allowed just nine pressures on the year, per Pro Football Focus, showcasing his impressive pass-protecting prowess at both spots.
Following the year, he entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal, searching for an uptick in competition to improve his draft at stock.
Florida is now slated to benefit from the move.
His experience and versatility considerably bolsters the Gators' lackluster offensive front. He is expected to compete for a starting tackle spot heading into the 2024 campaign.
The battle will likely come at right tackle with incumbent starter Dameion George Jr. — who struggled considerably during his lone season in Gainesville in 2023 and could experience a move to the interior — alongside any other veteran transfer additions the Gators could bring in.
If he's unable to claim the spot, Crenshaw-Dickson presents valuable depth as a swing tackle for a unit that likes to occasionally rotate its offensive front when the caliber of talent allows for it.
He possesses the size Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton have coveted from their exterior offensive line prospects since arriving at UF as well.
Crenshaw-Dickson is the first official transfer addition for Florida this offseason. Billy Napier and Co. will remain steadfast to replenish the 18 outgoing members of the 2023 roster in the coming months.
The trenches on both sides of the football will be a primary focal point in that effort.
