Priority 2022 Florida Gators CB Target Committing Today
An early priority for the Florida Gators in the class of 2022, Lake Gibson (Lakeland, Fla.) cornerback/athlete Sam McCall is set to make his college decision today, on his birthday.
McCall, 6-foot-2, 185-pounds, received an offer from the Gators in April 2019, and had visited campus numerous times between then and this past March when in-person recruiting was shut down amid the coronavirus pandemic. McCall has a tight-knit relationship with UF cornerbacks coach Torrian Gray that extends beyond football and his recruitment.

Throughout the course of the year, McCall has expanded his final two of Florida and Alabama from April to a top-four including those two schools, Oklahoma, and Florida State. All four schools primarily view McCall as a cornerback but some, including Florida, have discussed playing him on both sides of the ball.
At Lake Gibson, McCall not only plays cornerback but also wide receiver, Wildcat quarterback, and kick returner.
"I'm a good cover, I come down and hit when I need to, but I love to cover you," McCall told Sports Illustrated-AllGators in September. "If we turn back on tape, I probably only had two catches on me the whole [2019] season, only two... It's hard to come out with a 6-2, 185 corner out here, how to be physical with him if he's that big and that size, so I get physical with anybody."
When speaking Sports Illustrated-AllGators, McCall acknowledged that Florida and Alabama maintained an edge in his recruitment as they had previously. The odds are, his decision is likely to be between one of those two schools, and we're predicting that it'll be Florida who ends up winning out for McCall's services given his relationship with Gray, Florida's long-standing pursuit, and other factors.
Just over a week ago following a Lake Gibson game, McCall was seen decked out in Florida Gators gear. McCall has made several social media and public appearances in Florida colors and gear before, strengthening our confidence that UF is a serious if not his top option.
