The Seminoles will open up their slate of spring practices on Monday. With only a few days separating Florida State from getting back on the field, the program released its 2023 spring media guide and provided a roster update. There were a couple of different things to take note of but one of the first things to pop off the page was the number of players that have gained or lost weight.

There are 46 players on Florida State's roster that have put on at least four or more pounds, including 18 who have gained 10+ pounds. That means the Seminoles are projected to be a lot larger beginning this spring and a lot of that credit can go to Director of Strength and Conditioning, Josh Storms, and the Tour of Duty.

Let's take a look at a few of the players who made changes. We kept the criteria to a minimum gain or loss of four pounds.

Notable Weight Gains:

Quarterback Brock Glenn: 205 pounds to 209 pounds (+4)

Running Back Trey Benson: 215 pounds to 221 pounds (+6)

Running Back Lawrance Toafili: 187 pounds to 191 pounds (+4)

Running Back Rodney Hill: 186 pounds to 190 pounds (+4)

Defensive Back KJ Kirkland: 186 pounds to 196 pounds (+10)

Punter Alex Mastromanno: 220 pounds to 245 pounds (+25)

There are plenty of significant developments out of the players who have added weight. Stars such as running back Trey Benson, wide receiver Johnny Wilson, and defensive end Jared Verse have all added five or more pounds which could be useful for their respective durability throughout a long season.

Plenty of skill players such as Winston Wright, Kyle Morlock, Brian Courtney, Jarrian Jones, Shyheim Brown, and Fentrell Cypress have added pounds. Multiple true freshmen are already growing like Hykeem Williams, Vandrevius Jacobs, KJ Kirkland, Quindarrius Jones, and Lamont Green Jr.

Florida State is also getting massive in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The Seminoles have 14 players on the offensive or defensive line that weigh in at 310+ pounds. Fabien Lovett, Darrell Jackson, Bless Harris, Julian Armella, and Jeremiah Byers are approaching 330 pounds.

Notable Weight Losses:

Offensive Lineman Robert Scott: 334 pounds to 304 pounds (-20)

Offensive Lineman Kanaya Charlton: 342 pounds to 335 pounds (-7)

Offensive Lineman Jaylen Early: 338 pounds to 324 pounds (-14)

Offensive Lineman Qae'Shon Sapp: 335 pounds to 326 pounds (-9)

Defensive End Patrick Payton: 248 pounds to 243 pounds (-5)

Defensive End Aaron Hester: 233 pounds to 227 pounds (-6)

Defensive Tackle Ayobami Tifase: 303 pounds to 298 pounds (-5)

Linebacker Stephen Dix Jr: 237 pounds to 227 pounds (-10)

Defensive Back Akeem Dent: 199 pounds to 195 pounds (-4)

This list isn't as loaded as the players that put on weight but there are still some alterations to note. Robert Scott has dropped 20 pounds while Kanaya Charlton, Jaylen Early, and Qae'Shon Sapp have also shed some weight since the conclusion of the 2022 season. The change will allow Scott to be in better shape moving forward which could be a huge development at left tackle.

On the other side of the ball, defensive end Patrick Payton and safety Akeem Dent have both lost a couple of pounds. Payton is probably preparing to bulk up over the summer while Dent was limited during the offseason program. Head coach Mike Norvell noted on Friday that Dent was a full participant for the first time this winter during FSU's last Tour of Duty workout.
