Florida State Loses Safety Commitment To Alabama Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide flipped one of FSU's 2024 commitments on Wednesday.

Florida State landed 12 commitments over the past five weeks to boost its 2024 recruiting class inside the top 10 in the country. The Seminoles have won some major battles on the recruiting trail after landing five-star cornerback Charles Lester III and five-star safety KJ Bolden on consecutive weekends.

However, recruiting is a very fluid subject and it is constantly changing. It's nice to hold verbal commitments but programs also have to keep prospects in the fold all the way into December when prospects put pen to paper during the Early Signing Period.

On Tuesday, three-star safety Rydarrius 'Red' Morgan announced on social media that he was flipping his commitment from Florida State to Alabama. He recently pledged to the Seminoles back on July 4, originally choosing the program over Miami and Auburn, but began to trend towards the Crimson Tide a short time later.

Rather than visiting Tallahassee during the only open weekend of July, Morgan instead chose to check out Tuscaloosa. The seed was planted and it didn't take very long for the Alabama native to take his talents to the in-state Crimson Tide.

Despite the loss, the Seminoles still hold commitments in the defensive backfield from Lester, Bolden, four-star cornerback Ricky Knight III, and three-star safety CJ Heard. The program remains in the running for high-profile prospects such as four-star Jamari Howard.

With Morgan moving on, Florida State is down to 21 verbal commitments in its 2024 class which now ranks No. 5 in the country.

The 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back is regarded as the No. 558 overall prospect, the No. 54 S, and the No. 29 recruit in the state of Alabama in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
