Gonzaga loses to Saint Mary's in 2024 WCC Tournament championship (photo gallery)

The Zags failed to win their 22nd WCC Tournament title

LAS VEGAS - After finishing second to Saint Mary's in the West Coast Conference, the Gonzaga men's basketball team was hoping to claim the WCC Tournament championship with a victory over the Gaels on Tuesday night.

It was not to be as the Gaels emerged with a 69-60 victory.

Gonzaga entered the game projected to be a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament in the latest ESPN Bracketology predictions. The Gaels are projected to be a No. 7 seed.

A win over Saint Mary's would have given Gonzaga its 22nd WCC Tournament championship - and it could have bumped the Bulldogs up to a No. 5 seed and a spot in the Spokane pod. Instead the Bulldogs will likely end up as a No. 7 or 8 seed in Salt Lake City or Omaha.
