Per Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Miami Dolphins have inked a deal with defensive lineman Teair Tart. He spent time with the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans this past season.

Tart, a Philadelphia native, spent one season in the JUCO ranks before committing to FIU. He played for two seasons, with 51 total tackles, 23 solo tackles, 28 assisted tackles and 5.5 sacks.

The defensive tackle's best college season season came in 2019, with 32 total tackles, 15 solo tackles, eight assisted tackles, 1.5 sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss. Tart’s strong two seasons at FIU would have the Tennessee Titans pick him up as an undrafted free agent.

Through his first four and a half seasons, Tart was with the Tennessee Titans. Midway through his fourth season, he was released by the Titans and claimed by an AFC South foe the Houston Texans.

Under head coach DeMeco Ryans, Tart had three total tackles, two solo tackles and one zero tackles for loss, but overall, his 2023 season was a success with eight tackles for loss and 24 total tackles.

With the loss of Christian Wilkins and Raekwon Davis, the Dolphins needed to beef up their defensive line and bring in Tart who stands at 6’2”, 304 pounds and has four seasons of experience under his belt - plus, experience playing in the Miami weather.

This will mark the second FIU Panther to join the Dolphins this offseason. Jonnu Smith signed with Miami back in March.
