Kentucky Basketball: Wildcats Still Inside Top 25 of KenPom Ratings
Kentucky basketball is still going strong inside the top 25 of the KenPom ratings despite a loss to UNC Wilmington last week.
The Wildcats (7-2) are currently ranked No. 22 in the KP ratings, good for fourth in the SEC. Alabama (No. 13), Auburn (No. 11), and Tennessee (No. 9) are ahead of Calipari and the Cats.
Kentucky's offense still ranks inside the top 15 nationally, currently placing No. 13 in adjusted efficiency. The defense, however, is still lagging behind - sitting at No. 53 nationally.
Here are some notable stats the Wildcats are really strong or weak in nationally:
Offense
Effective FG %: 58.5 (No. 8)
Turnover %: 11.9 (No. 3)
Off. Reb. %: 25.9 (No. 279)
3P%: 41.4 (No. 3)
Point Distribution, 3-Pointers: 35.3% (No. 68)
Defense
Avg. Poss. Length: 17.6 (No. 248)
Block %: 13.8 (No. 36)
Steal %: 12.6 (No. 33)
3PA/FGA (What percentage of opponent shots are 3-pointers): 44.3 (No. 331)
A/FGM (Assist percentage): 55.6 (No. 292)
Point Distribution, 3-Pointers: 37.3 (No. 24)
Personnel
Bench Minutes %: 29.5 (No. 219)
2-Foul Participation %: 9.1 (No. 286)
Notes:
Kentucky had a 100% 2-foul participation until this most recent game, where it tanked to 9.1%. I have no idea why this happened. It was likely an error in KenPom's system.
