Vegas gives Duke better odds to win the South Region than Kentucky

Can the Kentucky Wildcats win the South Region?

Kentucky was put in the South Region by the NCAA Tournament Committee, where they will play the first two rounds in Pittsburgh, then move on to Dallas if they make it out of the first weekend.

The Wildcats are a hot pick to make a Final Four among college basketball analyst thanks to their ability to score the basketball, but Vegas isn't buying it.

FanDuel Sportsbook put out their odds for teams to make the Final Four from each region, and Kentucky was fourth in the South. The Wildcat's odds were +700, which is behind Duke at +650, Marquette at +550, and Houston at +135. The Wildcats are right ahead of Wisconsin +1300 and Florida +1600.

It comes as a bit of a shock that the Wildcats betting odds to win the South Region are behind Duke based on how much folks like Kentucky in the tournament and the fact that Kentucky is the three seed while the Blue Devils are the four seed.

Duke is an excellent basketball team with a lot of good players like Kyle Filipowski, Jeremy Roach, and Jared McCain, but many seem to like the Wildcats more in the Big Dance.

It makes sense that with this Kentucky basketball team's boom or bust nature, the betting websites don't believe they will make it out of the South Region.

Kentucky will need to make some defensive changes in the tournament if they want to make a run and it is hard to see this happening based on the fact that the defense couldn't be fixed throughout the season.
