LSU WBB: Kim Mulkey, LSU Hosting 5-Star Forward Joyce Edwards For Visit

Kim Mulkey and her coaching staff will host the No. 2 prospect in America this weekend with five-star forward Joyce Edwards coming to Baton Rouge, sources tell LSU Country.
LSU continues turning up the heat for the Top 5 player in the 2024 class who will now make her way down South to soak in the scenes on campus. Edwards arrived in Louisiana on Friday morning as she begins her multi-day stay.
Edwards, a consensus five-star prospect with a tremendous offer list, has LSU right in the thick of things with Mulkey and Co. making an immediate impression.
One of the most decorated players in the 2024 class, Edwards’ accolades as she enters her senior year are eye-opening.
She’s played a key role in Team USA’s success over the years, dominating for the red, white and blue this summer as well:
- Gold Medal: 2023 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup
- Participated at the 2023 USA 3x3 Women's U17 National Team trials in Memphis during the 2023 NCAA College Basketball Academy, which also includes the U.S. Open Championships
- Helped the 2023 USA Women's U19 National Team win the gold medal at the 2023 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup in Madrid by averaging 12.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 18.5 minutes over seven games - earning All-Star Five honors
Now, Kim Mulkey gets the chance to sit down with the five-star prospect as she begins her official visit with the Tigers. Another program-changing prospect, Edwards is a player who can jumpstart the 2024 class in a big way.
LSU has already hosted two of the Top 5 players in the 2024 class this month with both Sarah Strong and Kate Koval making their way to town:
Sarah Strong - No. 1 Player in America
Five-star forward Sarah Strong made her way to Baton Rouge in September for an official visit with Mulkey and the Tigers. After competing in Hungary alongside LSU freshman Mikaylah Williams in the U18 3x3 competition, the two could envision teaming up at the next level.
LSU traveled up to North Carolina this month for an in-home visit with Strong and her family with assistant coach Bobby Starkey and recruiting guru Gary Redus making the trip.
For now, LSU is the team to beat here for Strong’s services. At this point in time, the No. 1 player in the 2024 class does not have any other official visits lined up and the Tigers have positioned themselves well for the top player in the country.
After an in-home visit this month and now an official visit in the books where Strong was in town for a multi-day stay, we could see Strong pop sooner rather than later.
A player who would once again set the Tigers up for the long haul, Mulkey and Co. have turned up the heat in order to seal the deal. Time will tell, but we could see Strong make a decision soon.
Kate Koval - No. 5 Player in America
Kate Koval has been a top priority for LSU over the last few months with the No. 5 prospect in America setting up her official visit to Baton Rouge awhile back. The 6-foot-5 post player locked in her official visit and was in town alongside Strong this month, sources tell LSU Country.
Starkey and Redus traveled to North Carolina this month as well to visit Strong, but it didn’t stop there. This coaching staff also took the trip up to New York for an in-home visit with Koval as well with the Tigers trending for the top post player. Notre Dame and LSU will battle here for the New York prospect with Koval taking an official visit to visit the Fighting Irish this weekend.
Koval has earned a ton of national recognition following her standout junior campaign. She was named a Naismith All-American while earning the New York Gatorade Player of the Year award. The Gatorade Player of the Year award recognizes players for their success on the court and off.
