LSU's Alexis Morris Issues Apology Following Social Media Posts

Morris took to Twitter to voice frustration after being cut by the Connecticut Sun, issues apology.

Former LSU guard Alexis Morris took to Instagram on Thursday to issue an apology following a handful of social media posts about the WNBA and their business model.

Morris called for veterans to retire to clear room for the younger generations after she was cut by the Connecticut Sun just weeks after being drafted in the 2023 WNBA Draft.

Morris' apology:

"To the veterans of the WNBA, please accept my sincerest apologies," Morris wrote on Instagram. "I never thought joining the W family would be easy, but now I understand just how hard it is to do that. My energy would have been better served directed toward league executives who have a say in expansion and other logistics. I look forward to celebrating your individual and collective careers and giving you all the flowers you deserve. I hope you can empathize and find it in your hearts to forgive me. I will continue to work hard in hopes of joining you all one day soon."

LSU president William Tate has also spoken out about the WNBA's business model. Tate shared his frustration about the current, 12-team WNBA style and how it lacks the ability for up and coming stars to maintain a roster spot.

Former Tiger, and member of LSU's championship squad, LaDazhzia Williams, was also drafted and cut, but has since signed with an international team.

Morris also took the time to apologize to the WNBA:

"Please don’t let this mistake be a representation of our league or as an indictment against my character moving forward," Morris wrote. "I ask for your forgiveness and support as I attempt to raise more awareness about some of the issues the league is facing. It needs your support now more than ever. While I’m one of many to be affected by recent cuts, I understand that the issue is bigger than me."
