LSU Football: Tigers Trending For Coveted Louisiana Cornerback

In this story:
LSU football is surging on the recruiting trail after landing three commitments in 10 days, but this program is looking to continue its success in the 2024 cycle.
Brian Kelly and Co. are pushing to bolster the cornerback room for the future. It's clear this is a position of need, and with a major target now back on the market, LSU is surging.
Louisiana native Bernard Causey, a coveted defensive back in the 2024 class, backed off of his pledge to Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels this week.
What does this mean for the Tigers?
Causey is at the top of LSU's wish list in the current recruiting cycle. The program offered the prized cornerback in September and this staff has turned up the heat in a big way ever since.
Beyond grateful for the opportunity to be offered a scholarship to ole miss❤️, but at this time I will be decommiting to open up my options I want to thank the team, the coaches, and the fans for all the love I was shown, ole miss will still be an option. #pleaserespectmydecision

Now, Causey is back on the market with the Tigers trending for their top target.
Sources familiar with the situation feel strong in their position for Causey and are hoping to lock him in sooner rather than later.
There have been rumblings of potential visits taking place before a decision is made, but the Tigers will look to seal the deal here.
It's "closing time" for LSU with their top cornerback target back on the market with the purple and gold looking to revamp the secondary for the future.
We've seen shuffling in the 2024 class over the last two weeks, specifically with the defensive backs.
What has taken place?
A dive into who's flipped elsewhere, who the Tigers have reeled in and the cornerback commitments:
Flipped Successfully: PJ Woodland
PJ Woodland, a Mississippi native, revealed his commitment to Brian Kelly and the Tigers on Sunday after a successful visit to Louisiana over the weekend.
After backing off of his pledge to Mississippi State earlier this month, Woodland wasted no time in revealing his commitment to the Tigers.
A player who was trending towards the Ole Miss Rebels, LSU once again got him back down to campus with this program ultimately sealing the deal.
Woodland was in Baton Rouge for the Tigers’ victory over Auburn last weekend before making the trek back to Louisiana for the Week 8 contest against Army.
Now, he’s a Tiger.
The 6-foot, 160-pounder fills a void in this LSU defense for the future with those within the program intrigued with his long-term potential. Woodland is in the midst of an impressive senior campaign with his Oak Grove program handling business.
LSU continues looking to add defensive backs for the future after losing a pledge from four-star cornerback Ondre Evans.
Flipped Elsewhere: Ondre Evans
Early last week, Ondre Evans to Georgia became a real possibility, and after a midweek visit to Athens, it busted the door wide open for a flip, sources tell LSU Country. Now, he's officially announced his commitment to the National Champions.
Evans is the No. 1 overall player in the state of Tennessee with Kirby Smart and his staff stealing a major SEC target once again. With the Tigers in constant contact with Evans, the Tennessee native now makes a major splash on the recruiting trail.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder has been a fast-rising prospect in the 2024 class. With his body beginning to fill out, he’s seen it take his game to a new level. Evans became one of the highest risers in the recent 247Sports recruiting rankings, going from unranked nationally to No. 106.
The LSU Commitments:
- Ju'Juan Johnson (four-star cornerback)
- Cai Bates (four-star cornerback)
- PJ Woodland (three-star cornerback)
- Wallace Foster (three-star cornerback)
