LSU Overtakes Alabama in AP Poll Ranking Following Top-10 Win Over Auburn

Tigers ranked No. 1 in the country for first time since 2011

There's a new No. 1 in college football as the Tigers overtook Alabama as the top team in the AP Poll ranking, following the 23-20 win over Auburn Saturday.

Through eight weeks, no team in college football has a resume like LSU does. In fact, no team in the history of the AP Poll era has a resume through eight weeks like the 2019 LSU team does.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, LSU became the first team to beat three top-10 teams in the first eight weeks of a season. The Tigers beat No. 9 Texas in the second week of the season, No. 7 Florida two weeks ago and No. 9 Auburn Saturday night.

After losing to LSU Saturday, Auburn slipped to the No. 11 team in the country as Florida (No. 6) and Georgia (No. 8) rounded out the SEC teams in the top-25, with all five SEC schools ranked in the top-15.
