Rueben Bain Jr has already been named to ESPN's Way-Too-Early All America Team this week.

The top graded freshman edge rusher from last season has turned up on another watch list before the 2024 campaign. The former Miami Central HS standout recorded 44 tackles, 7.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles in his debut season for the Hurricanes. He earned an excellent 84.1 Pro Football Focus grade, the highest of any Miami defender who played at least 100 snaps.

Chris Hummer of 247Sports has included Bain in his list of 16 players set to emerge as college football's next wave of superstars.

Hummer writes:

"Looking forward to his second college season, Bain projects to only improve. He's a sawed-off edge rusher whose superpower is his burst off the line. Bain created 45 pressures last season, which was 10 more than any other first-year Power Five player.

He's a dominant edge player for a team that will carry plenty of hype into 2024. Get used to hearing his name. People won't be in the dark about him for long."

Bain will of course be a foundational piece on Miami's defensive line next season. The Hurricanes will also enjoy  reinforcements from Nyjalik Kelly and Akheem Mesidor, as both edge rushers return from injury. In the interior, the Hurricanes added former NC State defensive tackle CJ Clark and former Middle Tennessee State Blue Raider Marley Cook to help fill the void left behind by Leonard Taylor
