BREAKING: Miami Hires UCF Asst. Head Coach Tim Harris Jr. as RB Coach

Tim Harris Jr. has stayed around South Florida for his entire coaching career

Now, he's made it to the big three of Florida collegiate football. Per Andy Slater, Miami is hiring Tim Harris Jr. as the running backs coach.

Slater said in addition to the hire, Harris Jr. was the only one offered the position. Harris Jr. is the son of Ice Harris, legendary Booker T. Washington High School football coach.

Harris Jr. coached at Booker T. Washington in 2014, where he won a state title as the head coach after being an assistant for five years. He coached at Florida International University from 2015-20 as the running backs coach.

In 2021, he became the offensive coordinator before leaving for UCF, where he was co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach. After this past season, he was named assistant head coach of the Knights before becoming the running backs coach at Miami.

Harris Jr. is also a 2022 University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame inductee. He ran track at Miami from 2004-08 and is one of the most highly decorated athletes in Miami's track and field history.

Harris Jr. was a four-time All-American in the 800-meter event. He has a unique path to coaching football. Despite not having collegiate football playing experience, he knows two things: speed and winning.

The Hurricanes are hoping to bring speed and winning ways to the program, and coach Mario Cristobal seems confident that Harris Jr. can contribute in those areas.
