Marquise Lightfoot Picks Miami!

Miami lands top Chicago defensive end prospect Marquise Lightfoot

Miami wins in upset fashion, landing edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot from Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood Academy.

He had offers from across the country, but a recent trip to Coral Gables was the key to him becoming a Hurricane and joining the 2024 recruiting class.

With Lightfoot's decision to head to Coral Gables, Miami has 15 verbal commitments within the 2024 recruiting class. He's the first pure edge rusher (Daylen Russell can play multiple spots) in Miami's 2024 recruiting class, and builds upon last season's great edge rushers like Rueben Bain, Jr. and Jayden Wayne.

Here's how the 6-foot-5 and 220-pound Lightfoot was ranked by the four major recruiting services, with the rankings in order for each one being national, position and then state.

On3: 60, 5, and 3

Rivals: 86, 4, and 3

ESPN: 131, 18, and 4

247: 128, 8, and 4

Lightfoot visited Miami (June 23) last, and also trekked to Ohio State (June 9) and Southern California (June 18).

This was a good pre-4th of July celebration for Miami and its fans. Everyone have a save holiday!
