The 14th verbal commitment for the Miami Hurricanes 2024 recruiting class comes from South Florida’s fertile recruiting grounds.

Romanas Frederique, Jr. has flipped his commitment from West Virginia to Miami. He played for Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High School and then transferred to Saint Thomas Aquinas, where he will finish his high school career.

During his junior season at Deerfield Beach, the 6-foot and 170-pound cornerback unveiled a lot of natural defensive back traits that allowed him to earn scholarship offers from several programs. That list included Florida State, Florida Atlantic, UCF, Ole Miss, Florida International, Houston, Liberty, Western Kentucky, Akron, Jacksonville State and Appalachian State.

Miami’s current coaching staff offered Frederique back on Jan. 28, 2023. He earned his offer from West Virginia on April 11, 2023 and actually committed to the Mountaineers just a couple of weeks ago on June 17.

He’s been a priority for Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff, and that original decision was quickly overturned.

Welcome to The U young Mr. Frederique!

Note: All Hurricanes will have a film review of Frederique on Saturday, with an overview of Miami's 2024 recruiting class to date, coming soon as well.
