For Miami Hurricanes fans, many of them probably do not know much about edge defender Cole McConathy. He's from Spanish Fort (Ala.) High School just outside of Mobile.

The defensive end was committed to Louisville before flipping his commitment to Miami. For an overview of his athleticism and why the Canes went after McConathy, check out the following video for yourself:

McConathy has been a great story overall beyond the tremendous leaping ability. A one-time quarterback, he was asked to compete at a Rivals camp as a defensive end. Keep in mind that McConathy did not have experience playing the position. It didn't matter.

He went out and performed at a high level and the scholarship offers soon began to come in for him. As he's learned the position there's been more and more success. Here's the proof.

McConathy led the state of Alabama in sacks this past season with 24.5. The next closest player had 17. This has been a young man that grew up throwing the football and now he's hitting players at his old position.

At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, McConathy still has room to add more muscle mass and refine his body overall. That's kind of scary considering how successful he's already become.

McConathy is a part of Miami's top-10-rated recruiting class and Canes fans should not be surprised if he plays early.
