Michigan Offers First 2027 Quarterback

Recruiting never stop and seems to start earlier and earlier with each passing cycle.

Prospects from around the country have been all over Michigan's campus lately whether it be for recruiting visits or camps. Some of them are highly coveted by Jim Harbaugh and his staff and others have just landed on the radar. One of those young prospects who recently caught the attention of Harbaugh and Co. at a camp is Mundelein (Ill.) Carmel Catholic quarterback Trae Taylor

The 5-11, 135-pounder is the first quarterback in the 2027 class to receive an offer from the Wolverines. After spinning it well during a camp, earning MVP honors and spending time with virtually the entire Michigan staff, Taylor now has an offer from U-M.

As a rising freshman, Taylor is obviously going to be much bigger once he's ready to finish high school and prepare for a college career, but he can absolutely spin it. You can see the lankiness, whip for an arm and quick release. It's not surprising that he's already got a handful of offers before even walking the halls of a high school.

Central Michigan, Marshall and Maryland recognize Taylor's potential as well and have offered. Michigan, however, is the first major program to extend a tender to the current 8th grader. Michigan has its signal caller in the 2024 class in Jadyn Davis and a clear No. 1 target in the 2025 class in local product Bryce Underwood out of Belleville. In the 2026 class, Jim Harbaugh and Co. have extended seven offers, and now Taylor has broken the ice at the position in 2027. Overall, Taylor is just the sixth prospect in his class to pick up an offer from the Wolverines.
