VanVossen Named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

EAST LANSING - Michigan State senior Mick VanVossen was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday. The honor is the first of VanVossen’s career.

VanVossen threw a one-hit complete-game shutout in a 7-0 win over Indiana in the opening game of Sunday’s doubleheader sweep. The right hander struck out a season-high eight batters and retired 13 straight to end the game.

It marked VanVossen’s second career complete game shutout.

The weekly conference honor was the first by a Spartan since Andrew Waszak in April 2013.

VanVossen is 3-4 with a 4.92 ERA this season.
