#1 Michigan State Spartan Freshmen G Mark "ROCKET" Watts Talks #2 Kentucky Wildcats & More!

Breslin Student Events Center

East Lansing, MI

The #1 team in America happens to reside in the Big Ten. They also happen to reside in the state of Michigan. No, not in Ypsilanti, Mt. Pleasant, Kalamazoo or Ann Arbor. Instead, they’re right here in East Lansing and of course, we are talking about the Michigan State Spartans and their Hall of Fame head coach Tom Izzo.

The Spartans kick off the season on October 9, in an exhibition contest against Albion and the season officially kicks off November 5 at 9:30 PM in New York. The Spartans will be taking on the Kentucky Wildcats in the Champions Classic. No doubt that the nation’s attention is already looking at the critical first game of the year heavyweight fight.

"Rocket" is so fast, thuse the nickname, but he has done a terrific job of allowing the game to come to him.  That is a rare talent for a youngster with that speed.  Another positive about the Spartans new combo guard is that he is learning to play defense the way that Tom Izzo demands it and has already learned to pay close attention to the details of how to do.  His being teachable has already earned him the respect of pre-season national player of the year Cassius Winston.
