#3 Michigan State Basketball Goes On The Road To Take Out #12 Seton Hall 76-73

The #3 Michigan State Spartans got their second win of their season tonight to improve to 2-1 on the season. They took out #12 Seton Hall Pirates and they did it on the road 76-73.

The Spartans were led by Cassius Winston with the double-double as he had 21 points and four assists. True freshman Malik Hall had 17 points and eight rebounds off the bench. He was 7/7 from the field and had five rebounds. Xavier Tillman led the Spartans on the boards with 11.

Izzo said of Winston, “I am tell you guys, you haven’t seen the best of him yet either. He’s playing with a heavy heart and a broken heart and I have to give him all the credit in the world. I could not do what he has done.”

Izzo said of Hall, “Somebody is going to be mad at me back at home. He hasn’t made that many threes in practice. We put him in there and thought eh was a little small, for all their size, but I think they had trouble guarding him too like we had guarding them.”

The Spartans won the battle of the boards 40-37 and the Spartans also had 14 turnovers. Seton Hall had 17 turnover and the Spartans converted that to 19 points.

Tom Izzo added of the game, “Sure did feel like a March game. They played hard, we made some mistakes and without Aaron Henry really able to go (He was injured), I thought we did a pretty good job.”

The Spartan continued their habit of being unselfish. They had 15 assists on 27 baskets. The Spartans shot 44% from three, 42% from the field and an abysmal 59% from the charity stripe.

The Spartans return to the court for game four of the regular season on Monday. They will be taking on Charleston at 6:30 PM back at home at the Breslin Center. That game can be seen on BTN.

The Duke Blue Devils will be in East Lansing to take on the Spartans on Tuesday, December 3rd in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. That game can be seen on ESPN and it tips off at 9:30 PM
