BREAKING: Tom Izzo, Michigan State land Top 50 prospect in 2024 class

The Spartans continue to build for their future on the hardwood...

Michigan State men's basketball continues to get the job done on the recruiting trail.

After signing the nation's No. 3 recruiting class in 2023, Tom Izzo and the Spartans are off to a great start to the 2024 class after landing four-star Haverhill (Mass.) Bradford Christian Academy shooting guard Kur Teng on Monday afternoon.

Teng chose Michigan State among a 'Final Three' that included Rutgers and Providence. The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder is considered the No. 37 overall prospect, No. 8 shooting guard and No. 1 player from the state of Massachusetts in the 2024 class by the 247Sports composite rankings.

"Their play style fits me really well. I like to come off pin down [screens] on the offensive end, and stuff like that," Teng told 247Sports after announcing his commitment to the Spartans. "I just seen every time I watched them there's been a similarity between them and the way I play right now with my team."

Michigan State is coming off its best season in three years after finishing fourth in the Big Ten Conference standings and reaching the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2019. The Spartans await decisions from seniors Tyson Walker and Malik Hall on whether they will return for a fifth season in East Lansing.

Michigan State's 2023-24 roster will be bolstered by five-star forward Xavier Booker, five-star point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. and four-star forwards Coen Carr and Gehrig Normand, who make up the country's No. 3 recruiting class for 2023.

Now, the Spartans have a player to build around in the 2024 class with Teng, who had offers from 16 NCAA-Div. 1 programs including Auburn, Seton Hall, Cincinnati, Clemson, Iowa, Miami, TCU and others.
