With two players playing limited minutes because of injuries in Korie Lucious and Keith Appling, and their future Hall of Fame coach in Tom Izzo suspended the Spartans still made it look easy. “No texts, not calls,” was how fill in head coach and long time Izzo assistant Mark Montgomery described the halftime scene. He was joking because when Mark Dantonio was out recovering from a heart attack he texted and called his assistants.

The Spartans were lead by Durrell Summers who scored 25. Draymond Green had 11, but the real story was a missing Izzo. Players called it crazy, weird, different. At the end of the day Izzo served a suspension against a meaningless opponent and the Spartans move on.

Izzo said he would be back at practice this morning as the Spartans now begin preparation for a big time foe in Texas who will be visiting the Breslin Center on Wednesday.
