Former MSU Football Assistant Hired By Ohio State

There will be a familiar face across the field when the Spartans host the Buckeyes this September...

While a wild coaching carousel this college football offseason is starting to wind down, several programs continue to add assistant coaches and analysts to their arsenals.

One program that has been highly active this offseason is Ohio State, which has landed a plethora of the top players in the transfer portal as well as hired former UCLA head coach Chip Kelly as the program's new offensive coordinator. Head coach Ryan Day wasn't finished making additions to his staff with Kelly, however, as Ohio State has also added a former Michigan State assistant coach to its staff.

On Thursday, pass rush specialist Brandon T. Jordan, who served as an on-field assistant for the Spartans' during the 2022 season, announced he was joining the Buckeyes' staff.

The move to Columbus will be Jordan's third coaching stop in three years. After spending one season in East Lansing in 2022 under Mel Tucker, Jordan was hired by Pete Carrol and the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 2023 season. He was not retained by new Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald this offseason.

Jordan was credited with several major recruiting wins during his one season at Michigan State. He was the primary recruiter for rising redshirt freshmen defensive ends Bai Jobe and Andrew Depaepe, and defensive tackle Jalen Thompson, all of whom were four-star prospects class of 2023.
