Michigan State Football Names 3 Captains vs. Central Michigan

These three Spartans will lead MSU against the Chippewas on Friday night...

Many college football programs name year-long captains at the start of their season, but Michigan State and head coach Mel Tucker are continuing their tradition of naming new captains each week.

On Wednesday, the Spartans announced three captains who will lead the team in its season-opener against Central Michigan — redshirt senior linebacker Jacoby Windmon, redshirt junior defensive tackle Simeon Barrow and redshirt senior wide receiver Tre Mosley.

Michigan State looks to begin the 2023 season with a statement against an in-state foe in Central Michigan. The Spartans are coming off a disappointing 5-7 campaign in 2022, and have their sights set on returning to bowl eligibility and more this fall.

Michigan State enters Friday night's game (7 p.m./FS1) as a two-touchdown favorite over the Chippewas, according to Circa Sportsbook. The Spartans are 8-3 all-time against Central Michigan, having last lost in the series, 29-27, in 2009.
