SAFETY DANIEL BULLOCKS TALKS AFTER SIGNING

SAFETY DANIEL BULLOCKS -- JULY 29, 2006

>> On what happened on his deal
“I thought that I was going to be in on time, but sometimes negotiations have delays. I’m just happy to be in camp as soon as possible.”

>> On if he felt behind today
“I didn’t really feel behind out there, but it was more the heat and getting back into football-shape. It’s going to take a couple of practices to get back into the groove, but it’ll be good.”

>> On what his goals are and if he can start
“I want to compete. I want to contribute to the team as quick as possible, whether that’s starting or playing on special teams, I just want to be out there on the field.”

>> On if he’s working at both safety positions
“Right now I’m working at free safety, but we’re going to mix it in at strong safety a little bit.”

>> On trying to make big hits/plays to “open eyes”
“I’m just trying to make my plays and not try to overdo it; try to work as hard as I can; and that play happens. I’m going to try to make the play.”

>> On if he likes to make big hits
“I like to make big hits. That’s part of the game – you’ve got to be physical.”

>> On how much he has to learn
“This is kind of the same scheme that we ran at Nebraska, but a little different as far as cover 2 and cover 3; we didn’t run that as much. We ran a lot of zone presses and zone blitzes and man coverage. But the transition is coming along easier and I kept my notes from the last mini-camp and went over them over the summer, which made things a lot easier.”

>> On having fellow Nebraska alums watching out for him
“(Cory) Schlesinger and (Dominic) Raiola have been watching out for me. But on the field, I’m trying to make my plays and he’s trying to make his. He’s going to do his job and I’m going to do mine.
