Sean Taylor UPDATE

Sean Taylor UPDATE

By Matt Benjamin

Â
This past Thursday at a hearing Sean Taylor was able to avoid jail time. Prosecutors agreed to a deal with the Washington Redskins’ safety that will drop felony charges. Taylor will now be placed on an 18-month probation period, be forced to give speeches at 10 Miami-Dade County schools about the importance of education and make $1,000 contributions to each of those schools in the form of scholarships.Â

Â
It was believed that Taylor would receive up to forty-six years in prison if convicted of the charges, however, this deal comes in the form of relief, as it appears prison time will be avoided.Â
Â
“This is a fair and just resolution to this case that was blown out of proportion from the beginning, “ Taylor attorney Richard Sharpstein said. “It’s a great outcome for Sean.”
Â
Sharpstein was quick to point out, however, that the NFL could still suspend or fine Taylor. Whether that will happen remains to be seen.
