TIGERS AGREE TO TERMS ON ONE-YEAR DEAL WITH BYRDAK

Durbin Not Tendered a Contract by Detroit for 2008 Season

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with lefthanded pitcher Tim Byrdak, avoiding arbitration. Additionally, the club today announced it will not tender righthanded pitcher Chad Durbin a contract for the 2008 season.

Byrdak appeared in 39 games for the Tigers in 2007, compiling a 3-0 record and 3.20 ERA (45.0IP/16ER). He finished ninth among all American League relievers with 9.80 strikeouts per nine innings. Byrdak saw action in 17 games with Triple A Toledo as well last season, posting a 1-0 record and 2.59 ERA (24.1IP/7ER).

Durbin posted an 8-7 record and a 4.72 ERA (127.2IP/67ER) in 36 outings (19 starts) for the Tigers this past season.

Durbin is now a free agent, eligible to sign with any of the 30 major league clubs.
