East Lansing, Mich. -- - The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) has announced its list of National Scholar- Athletes for the 2018 season. Ten Spartans were awarded this honor at the completion of the 2017-18 academic year.

Requirements for being named to the CRCA National Scholar-Athlete squad includes at least sophomore athletic eligibility standing, rowing in an NCAA-eligible boat (first or second varsity eight, varsity four) for at least 75% of the spring racing season, and a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average or higher.

“I am always proud when our rowers are recognized for their athletic achievements,” said head coach Matt Weise. “These student-athletes are among the 27 who earned Academic All-Big Ten honors this year, and that is more than 70% of our total eligible roster. They set a tone academically for our novices that both parts of “student-athlete” are important in our program.”
