Spartans Make The Cut!

EAST LANSING, Mich. - As the summer months pass, former and current Michigan State women’s golfers are making a large impact in the golf world. With the summer months just beginning, there are sure to be more stories of Spartans leading the way on and off the course.

Former Spartan Allison Fouch made the final cut at the recent U.S. Women’s Open Championship. The Grand Rapids, Mich., native posted a 36-hole total of 148 (75-72) to make the cut for days three and four. During the final two rounds, she finished with a 79-73, ending the par-71 Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club course with a 16-over-par 300 (75-73-79-73).

Sophomore Laura Kueny and incoming freshman Ashley Lance, who signed a National Letter of Intent  to attend Michigan State beginning this fall, dominated the top-two spots at the Fidra Midwest Collegiate Series held at Forest Akers. Kueny carded a two-round total of 6-over-par 150 (72-78), which included four birdies. Lance completed the tournament two strokes behind her new teammate with an 8-over-par 152 (78-74).
