Oklahoma State adds a junior-college transfer to its squad in the 2024-25 season.

Seminole State shortstop Caden Powell committed to the Cowboys on Wednesday, and he will make the jump back into Division One baseball next season.

Powell is with the Trojans this season, and he has put up some solid numbers in his lone season. He is batting .511 on the season, with 16 home runs and 65 RBIs.

This past week, Powell was dominant, especially against Arkansas State University-Three Rivers. Seminole State won 31-6, and Powell went 6 for 7 with four home runs and 16 RBIs. His week earned him NJCAA National Player of the Week.

A product out of Clinton, Oklahoma, Powell spent his first college season at Oklahoma. In his time with the Sooners, Powell batted .257, with nine hits, four doubles and three RBIs.

When Powell was coming out of high school, he was one of the top prospects in the state of Oklahoma. Powell was the No. 3-ranked overall prospect in the state according to Prep Baseball Report in 2022.

With Lane Forsythe being a senior at shortstop for the Cowboys, Powell could slide into the position at the start of next season. The transfer could also play at the other three positions in the infield, so it will be interesting to see where Josh Holliday and his staff fit Powell into the roster next season.
