WATCH: Former Cowboy Viktor Hovland Scores Incredible Hole-in-One at Ryder Cup Practice
The 44th edition of the Ryder Cup is a day away from starting, so the participants are taking part in a practice round to get prepared. Former Oklahoma State golfer Viktor Hovland is set to compete with Team Europe.
Something particularly unique happened in the practice round, though. Playing in Rome at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, Hovland was cruising through the course. He then got to hole five, a par-four, and then he knocked in an ace.
It was an impressive hole-in-one, but it came one day too early. According to the PGA Tour, the par-four ace has only been accomplished one time in history, with Andrew Magee doing it at the 2001 WM Phoenix Open.
On top of this, there have been just six aces in the history of the Ryder Cup.
Though this shot came in the practice round, the official tournament begins overnight on Friday, starting just after midnight CT.
The Oklahoma State alum has taken the pro golf scene by storm over the past year. His short game improved and he patched holes in his game to help him leap to the upper echelon of golfers in the world, and now he is seemingly must-watch TV.
