Jake Luton's resilience made him something of a fan favorite at Oregon State. However, his tough luck in the NFL continued this week.

Luton was placed on injured reserve by the Carolina Panthers on Monday. The nature of his injury has yet to be disclosed. As a result, Luton will not play this season, unless the Panthers give him an injury settlement.

Luton appeared in two preseason games for the Panthers this summer completing nine passes on 11 attempts for 57 yards.

Luton was a sixth round selection by the Jacksonvile Jaguars in 2020. He appeared in three regular season games for the Jags that season, and has not appeared in a regular season game since. He threw two touchdowns and six interceptions, with one rushing touchdown that year. In the years since, he has bounced around with several different teams. He spent most of last season on Carolina's practice squad.

From 2017-2019, Luton appeared in 23 games for Oregon State. Luton won the starting quarterback job in 2017, but missed most of that season with a significant back injury. His best season came in 2019, when he threw 28 touchdowns with only three interceptions.
