Storylines
-For the Beavers, contending with the Idaho State passing offense is the main defensive priority. The Bengals had the top passing offense in the FCS last season, gaining an impressive 330.1 yards per game. With Idaho State operating under a two-quarterback system, the Beavers need to be prepared for an aggressive strategy and get off the field on third down. The Beavers allowed opponents to convert on just over 40% of third downs in 2023.
-Gevani McCoy is the starting quarterback for the Beavers after winning the job in a lengthy competition with Ben Gulbranson and Gabarri Johnson. McCoy, a transfer from the University of Idaho, has never actually played against Idaho State, surprisingly. If McCoy starts to struggle, expect the other two quarterbacks to get some work as well.
-The contest will be avalable nationwide thanks to an agreement reached between the Pac-12 and The CW. OSU made light of the fact that this game is so easily available to watch, while the opening games for Oregon and Washington will be subject to blackouts due to ongoing issues between the Big Ten and Comcast.
