Friday afternoon, members of Purdue's basketball team met with reporters ahead of the 2024 Final Four. Sophomore guard Fletcher Loyer was one of the first to answer media questions ahead of Saturday's clash with North Carolina State.

Loyer is averaging 10.6 points per game and is shooting better than 44% from 3-point range on the year. He's been a pivotal piece of Purdue's success this season.

Here's what Loyer had to say during his Final Four availability.

On finding the balance between basketball and education ...

Yeah, it's definitely been different, something you have to adjust to, something you have to adjust to throughout the winter, traveling to away Big Ten games. These last three weeks away has been tough. We have the right people in place. They've done a good job, whether it's getting us tutors or people, making sure we're getting our work done, emailing our professors, all that.

Ultimately it's been a lot. It's been busy here. Having good people in place, they've done a good job of doing that.

On appreciating the opportunity but still staying focused ...

Yeah, for us, I think we've all talked about right now we're on a business trip. Yeah, it's great, you want to enjoy it, you see your families get to enjoy it, all the fans here. It's really special. You don't want to take it for granted.

At the same time, like Coach said, we're going to be past players for 50 years. We got all the time in the world to enjoy it. Making sure we're locked in and making the most of it, making sure we're ready for tip-off come Saturday.

On Loyer's pre-game music choice ...

Yeah, I kind of like to switch it up. Everybody has their own thing. I usually listen to like country to get me calmed down a little bit, where I'd say most guys listen to rap to get them going for the game.

On his favorite moment from the NCAA Tournament so far ...

Yeah, I have two. I'd say hearing that buzzer against Tennessee, knowing all the work we put in, we got to the Final Four. One of our goals at the start of the year, something we worked really hard to do. Obviously we didn't get to do it last year.

That and then coming home off the airplane in West Lafayette, seeing all those fans there on a Sunday night means a lot to us. We know us playing hard and us winning games, they like that. They cheer us on, support us, win or loss. Kind of putting on a show for them and them welcoming us when we got back.
